

Born in Flagtown, N.J., she attended Somerville High School and lived in Bridgewater before moving to Whiting 24 years ago.
After 23 years of dedication to Somerset Medical Center, Elsie retired as personnel director in 1990.
Mrs. Comer was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
She was predeceased by her husband John Bailey in 1998
Elsie served as Unit President of the Stevenson - D’Alessio American Legion Unit # 12 of Somerville where she was named Woman of the Year and awarded a lifetime membership. In 2002-2003. as National President of the American Legion Auxiliary, she was the second from New Jersey to lead the largest patriotic women’s organization in the world. She received honors both in the United States and in foreign countries. Elsie was also a member of the 8 et 40 Petit Salon 265, Departemental de New Jersey and held all offices. After moving to Whiting in 1989, she served as President of the Resident’s Activities Committee and as Trustee for Whiting Station Homeowner’s Association. She was a member of Manchester Township’s Communities Council, as well.
Surviving is her husband John “Jake” Comer. A son, James DiPasquale, and his wife Barbara of Michigan. A daughter, Debra Murphy, and her husband Richard of Long Island, NY., 2 step-daughters: Peggy Hughes and her husband Jim of Bridgewater, Nancy Zagrodny and her husband Theodore of Quincy, MA., a step-son John Comer and his wife Margaret of Holbrook, MA., 2 brothers Vincent Greco and his wife Frances of North Carolina and John Greco of Bound Brook, 4 grandchildren: Ryan, Craig, Thomas and Michael, and 8 step-grandchildren: Sean, Brian, Anthony, Kevin, Connor, Meaghan, Brendan and Erin.
Visitation will be held on Sunday 8/12 from 3 – 7pm at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Road, Whiting.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday 10:45 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Cremation will be private.
