Mr. Bryce was one of my favorite teachers. I am saddened by his loss. I’m so glad I got the opportunity to see him and talk to him at our 50th GRHS reunion in 2018. Peace. 

I stumbled upon this obituary and was sad to see Jack had passed away.  Not old enough!  We were teachers together at Glen Ridge High School, Glen Ridge NJ back in 1974-1978.   I  did my student teaching there, later was a substitute teacher -- and eventually came aboard teaching HS English.  

Jack was a bright light in the teachers' lounge and shared with me that he played the clarinet.  We had a lot to talk about, as I was playing piano professionally!  I later left Glen Ridge HS to pursue a corporate career and, in a time before cellphones and the internet, lost track of my Glen Ridge associates.  I was therefore very sad to hear of his passing.  I can only hope he had pursued his dreams and his life at the end had been happy.  I would welcome contact from his family.  He was a treasure.

Jack was the last of the Bryce Boys of our generation. I was close to all three in our youth. Dave Frank and Jack.  But as with many, in adult life and with geographic moves we seldom met after childhood.  Jack was an accomished multi-instument musician and band leader and most importantly a loved husband and father.  Rest in Peace Jack....you've earned it. 

Mr. Bryce sparked my lifelong love of history. His vibrant, passionate attitude brought the past to life and taught me to appreciate the deep value of its study and understanding. 

I remember him well.  I was a student who truly struggled… he was patient, funny and kind!  I remember going to see him play with his band, and possibly Miss T as well, somewhere in Boonton NJ, I think.  Thinking of his family who will miss him and love him everyday.  

I did not speak too many times to Jack. However when i think aabout it he was a very talented man. His love of music as well as being a writer. God bless you Jack and may you rest in peace

Jack was truly a grand man. I know my father David, his cousin, adored him and his brothers David and Frank. They shared a passion for music and sharing life/world experiences. My father was so very proud of Jack’s accomplishment in being a published author and so proud to share his writings. I am so thankful that Jack shared with me insight into who my grandfather was as I never had the pleasure of knowing him.  The Bryce Family one and all are in my thoughts and prayers.

He was one of three men who had a profound influence on my life.  they were my father David, my Uncle Frank and my uncle Jack Bryce.  
All brothers, All born on the same day.  

I do not think anyone Argued with each other more but loved each other without question than these three men. 

Dad taught me about being  a good man and the benefit of faith, Frank showed me that honor was a way of life not just a word and Jack the wonder of music, and education.  I am not sure I ever knew a smarter man.  

I had the privilege of having him not just as an Uncle but as a friend who I could call or visit  later in his life.  

The Bryce boys are together once again and My life is better for having known them.    Love you one and all.  


A tribute to my father: the man who raised me with compassion and taught me how to be the best person I can be.  The man who adored my mother and supported our family with his passion for music.  He loved being a teacher and sharing his wisdom.  He was a modest and simple man with so many accomplishments to be proud of.  He loved his whole family and felt strongly about keeping everyone together.  You will be remembered for your sweet and gentle ways and with enormous pride.  I will miss you daddy...I love you.
