

Mildred (Millie) Schilling, 76, died on September 8, 2012 at The Pines, her home in Whiting surrounded by her family. Raised in the Bronx, NY, she was a long time Hightstown resident before moving to Whiting. Millie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who liked nothing more than cooking for and spending time with her family and friends. A graduate of Hunter College, she was employed for many years as a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide at Hightstown High School and then as the municipal clerk and town councilwoman in Hightstown before retiring to Whiting in 1998.
Millie was predeceased by her parents, William and Madelyn Engel. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, William A. Schilling, four sons Domenick (Lori Cain) of Raleigh, NC; Kenneth (Michelle) of Pennington, NJ; Christopher (Lisa) of Boothwyn, PA and Matthew (Colleen) of Myrtle Beach, SC; one daughter Mary Ellen (Michael) Congleton of Bordentown, NJ; three “adopted sons” John O’Rourke, George Crampton and Antonio Frederick; 14 grandchildren – Kelly, Sean, Megan, Ryan, Jack, Juliet, TJ, Camden, Brayden, Anthony, Catherine, Julia, Avery, and Aryn; a sister Joan Meyers of Brooklyn, NY, close cousins Ellen, Elyse and Edward of New York and many other cousins and friends.
Memorial gathering hours will be 3 PM to 5 PM on Friday at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home of Manchester, NJ, 115 Lacey Rd., Whiting. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:45 am on Saturday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Chapel in Whiting, NJ. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Millie’s name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Compassionate Care Hospice in Toms River, NJ.
