Santos Lazaro Arroyo, 82, of Whiting, passed away away peacefully, Tuesday, April 1 at the Manchester Manor Health Care Center surrounded by family. He worked in maintenance in environmental services at the Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Lakes for over 10 years, retiring in 1996. Years earlier he worked in plating & engraving in North Cedar Grove for several years. He loved fishing and crabbing at the Jersey Shore. Born in Puerto Rico, he came to the US in 1949, and resided in Newark & Butler before moving to Whiting in 1998.
Santos is predeceased by a son, the late John Arroyo in 2011. Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Rosa Arroyo, and his children, daughters, Rosa Whitaker, Evelyn Arroyo, Mildred Bowman and a son Santos Arroyo, Jr. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Friends may call on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 11am – 1pm at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Rd. Whiting, NJ 08759. A Celebrant Service will begin at 12pm. Cremation will be private.Arrangements under the direction of Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, Whiting, NJ.
