With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Eugene Moore, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left us on October 20, 2024, at the age of 85. He was surrounded by his devoted daughters and granddaughter.
Born on February 9, 1939, in Chilton, Texas, David lived a life marked by love, service, and laughter. Known for his great sense of humor, he had a unique talent for brightening any room with his laughter, creating special nicknames for loved ones, and bringing smiles to their faces. He had a beautiful bass voice that resonated in his church choir, and was a compassionate volunteer who delivered Meals on Wheels to those in need.
A man of great patriotism, David proudly served in the United States Air Force for 28 years. He served around the world, retiring at Sheppard Air Force Base, where he continued his career in civil service for an additional 32 years. David’s dedication to his country was matched only by his deep love for his family. David married Lois Nevitt on July 2, 1965, and together they raised two daughters, Wendy and Colleen.
Preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Ruby; brother, James; and sisters, Vida, Bonnie, and Naomi, David is survived by his cherished daughters, Wendy and Colleen, and his treasured granddaughter, Presley, all of whom were the light of his life. He also leaves behind his sister, Shirley Rodriguez of San Antonio, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who adored him.
David’s greatest legacy is his unwavering love for his family. His devotion to Wendy, Colleen, and Presley was a constant source of strength and guidance. They never had to question his love; it was evident in every moment they shared. He was not only their protector and provider but also their greatest supporter, teaching them the values of integrity, kindness, and resilience.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 2 PM at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home, 1917 Archer City Hwy, Wichita Falls, Texas 76302.
As we celebrate David’s remarkable life, we honor a man whose spirit will forever resonate in our hearts. His love, humor, and unwavering strength will continue to guide us as we carry his memory forward. He will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
