

Gwendolyn “Gwen” Pratt, 76, of Wichita Falls departed this life on January 2, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 10, 2014 at the chapel of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home with Reverend Bobby Wade officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Pratt was born February 15, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Harold Westley Hunley and Rosa Cheatham Hunley. She graduated from John Bartram High School in Pennsylvania and attended Berean Business College, majoring in Business Administration. Gwen moved to Wichita Falls in 1971. She was employed by the American Red Cross for several years and was later employed by the City of Wichita Falls at the Health Department as Administrative Assistant for twenty five years until her health began to fail. During that time, Gwen put her Christianity to work by touching the lives of many WIC participants, their families and the vendors. She loved people and her compassion allowed her to aid many people. She had a sweet spirit that allowed many to love and respect her.
Mrs. Pratt assisted in implementing the Meals on Wheel program at New Jerusalem Baptist Church and served as Mistress of Ceremonies for many church programs. She was a member of Deborah Barak Court # 484, Heroines of Jericho.
She met and married Sammy Pratt, her husband of thirty nine years and he preceded her in death. Also preceding were her parents, and two brothers, Vincent and Maurice.
She leaves to cherish her memories, three children, Gwen Galloway of Wichita Falls, Harold White of Austin, TX and Maurice White and wife Janice of Houston, TX; two grandkids, Lynnette and Tammera Galloway and her four great grandkids, Mahaugony, nurse Que , Dameon and her joking great grandson Maurice; five step children and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends and all the Hospice workers.

White of Houston, TX; 2 grandkids Lynnette and Tammera Galloway and her 4 great grand kids Mahaugony, nurse Que, Dameon and her joking great grandson Maurice, 5 step children, her sister-in-law Adelpha Hunley adopted son Derrick Knight of Philadelphia, best friend Gloria Phillips and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends and all the Hospice workers.
