

He was born April 11, 1929, in Palmer, Kansas, the son of Mary Adelia (Jones) and Arvig Arthur Paulson. He graduated from Woodston High School in Woodston, Kansas in 1947. He went to Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he received 90 credit hours. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Japan. On June 2, 1950, he and Alice Lurane “Susie” Pratt were married at the United Methodist Parsonage in Stockton, Kansas. The military brought them to Wichita Falls, Texas where they made their home.
After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he worked in Civil Service for Shepherd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. After this, he worked on remodeling houses and rent houses with his son Steven Paulson. He enjoyed working with his oldest grandson Charles Paulson, restoring a Model -A Ford. Next, he loved working on a 1962 Chevy Step Side pickup truck with his grandson Jason Paulson. After that, he enjoyed working at St. Marks United Methodist Church with his grandson, Brandon Eakins. They worked on minor repairs, yardwork, as well as working as the "sign guys” who created messages with a religious thought that made people smile.
His hobbies included reading the Bible, working on Sudoku puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and competing while watching the “Wheel of Fortune.” He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Preceding him in death were his three brothers, Lars Arvig Paulson, Clifford Finley Paulson and Leslie Leroy Paulson and one sister Edith Pearl Musgrove.
Surviving family include his wife of 71 years, Susie Paulson, son, Steven Paulson and wife, Kathy Paulson, daughters, Diane Eakins and husband, Michael Eakins and LeAnn Ray and husband, Billy Ray all of Wichita Falls, Texas, grandchildren Charles Paulson and his wife, Heather Paulson of Fulshear, Texas, Jason Paulson and his wife, Terri Paulson, Kristie Boswell and her husband, Blane Boswell, Jennifer Bigbie and her husband, Richard Bigbie and Brandon Eakins all off Wichita Falls, Texas, great-grandchildren, Christopher Paulson of Wichita Falls, Texas, Hadley Paulson of Lubbock, Texas and Cooper Boswell of Wichita Falls, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral arrangements will be announced. Memorials may be given to St. Marks United Methodist Church in his honor at 4319 McNeil Avenue, Wichita Falls, Texas 76308.
A graveside service for John will be held Monday, October 11, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park, 1917 Archer City Highway, Wichita Falls, Texas.
