

His mother was Getrude Ines Ziniti Patti and his father was Giovanni Patti. After his father died, his mother married Peter Munisteri of New York, USA, and took his family name, as did Joseph and his sister, Lauradele.
Joseph (Joe) is preceded in death by his first wife Theresa Grasso Munisteri, his grandson Denali Schmidt, his sister Lauradele Patti Munisteri Smith, his brother Arthur Angelo Munisteri and his brother-in-law Arthur Smith.
He is survived by his children Joanne, Robert, Laura, Stephen, James and Richard and their spouses. He has three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Joe graduated from Brooklyn Tech High School and earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Yale University in 1952. His working years included time with Bechtel Corporation, Lummus Corporation, as Group Vice President for Brown and Root, Vice President of Comstock, Chief Operating Officer of Ford, Bacon & Davis and President of ENSERCH, Inc. In his later years he opened an independent consulting firm in his name based in Houston, Texas.
Joe was a founding member of the American Nuclear Energy Council and served on numerous committees and boards for the American Society of Professional Engineers, The American Insitute of Chemical Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers and as a Silver Fox Business Adviser.
He loved music and played violin from a young age, participating over the course of his life in many community orchestras. Joe was a founding member of the Houston Civic Symphony Orchestra and played with them for 43 years.
He met his second wife, Barbra Coffman, through the Houston Civic Symphony and they married in 2001. Joe adopted Barbra's adult son David in 2006. They both reside in Texas.
His youngest granddaughter, Sequoia Schmidt, published his biography through her company, Di Angelo publications. It is entitled, "Born in Rome-From Italy to the Energy Empire" released in 2018.
