Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home. Interment will be in Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 PM, Friday, May 8, 2020 at the funeral home observing the suggested social distancing required.
She was born August 24, 1947, in Hugo, Oklahoma to Ralph and Helen Berryhill. Her father was in the military which eventually led the family to El Paso, Texas. Judy graduated from Irvin High School in El Paso, Texas. She attended college at The University of Texas in El Paso where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Education specializing in Science. Judy was passionate about teaching and coaching. She taught
in El Paso, Germany, and settled in Copperas Cove in 1979, where she taught Biology and coached the cheerleaders at Copperas Cove High School for close to 25 years. She was dearly loved by her students and her cheerleaders who affectionately called her, Ms. Meri. Judy retired in 2004 from teaching and made the move to Wichita Falls to be closer to her family. She worked as a Sentinel and as a Property/Evidence Room Technician for the City of Wichita Falls from 2005-2008.
Her interests included her family, her dogs which she had many through the years and adored them all, and prior to breaking her hip, playing golf. Judy is survived by her brother, Bob Berryhill; 2 sons and their spouses, Al and Tina Vitolo, Walter and Melissa Meriwether; and 5 grandchildren, Cole Vitolo and wife
Madelyn, Alex Vitolo, William, Wynn and Lily Meriwether; and 1 great grandson, Baylor McCoy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Helen Berryhill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Judy’s name to Emily’s Legacy Rescue.
