Lavon D Anderson

Andy was born on May 4, 1935 in Defiance, Ohio to Gilford and Irene Schortgen Anderson. He retired from serving his country in the United States Air Force and then retired from the US Postal Service. He married Barbara Ellen Lombard in Wichita Falls. He loved to fish and work in his garden, but he especially loved visiting with his grandkids and anybody else that had time to talk. He was also a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by a sister: Gail Cameron and a brother: Edwin Anderson.

Survivors include his wife: Barbara Ellen Anderson of Burkburnett; daughters: Chris Brake and husband Tommy of Wichita Falls, Tammy Bunch and significant other Ronnie Swanson of Wichita Falls, Ellen Jarrett and husband Jim of Burkburnett, Meredith Godfrey of Wisconsin, and Jennifer Gresham of Wichita Falls; son: Billy Anderson of Wichita Falls; sister: Margene Cruz of Defiance, Ohio; grandchildren: Breanna Hughes, Austin Bavousett, Miranda Chancellor, Kristen Chancellor, Lane Chancellor, Kristi Harman, Scott Brake, Moriah Brake, Sean Alston, Shelby Wright, Melody Godfrey, Derrick Godfrey, and Amanda Godfrey; and many great and great-great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home, 1917 Archer City Highway, Wichita Falls, Texas.

Interment with military honors will follow in Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park.
