June 5, 1932 – September 11, 2023
Patsy Jean Parker Vinzant went to the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on September 11, 2023.
Patsy was born in Wichita Falls, Texas to J.R. and Addie Green Parker. Her Father a bus driver for Greyhound bus line and her mother a stay-at-home Mom. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School then married the love of her life, Paul E. Vinzant on August 26, 1950.
She is preceded in death by her husband Paul, her three siblings, Helen, Leon, Gerald, and a granddaughter Victoria.
Growing up Patsy lived for her horses, Trixie, and Dixie, daily she got in trouble for riding them bareback while standing up on them, two reins, two horses and a foot on each horse. She was an avid swimmer as well, synchronized swimming was her event, she loved it and she was good at it. She also loved fishing, whether it was a lake, a pond, or a secret tank that her and Paul would find, she loved standing on the bank, all day long.
Patsy was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls and spent many years in the Glory Choir, Sanctuary Choir and even worked in the music library of the church.
She worked in her early career days as a church secretary at Downtown Baptist Church, she also worked at the Times and Record News then chose to become a homemaker and raise her three children, Paula, Carol, and Ed.
Patsy was very involved, whether it was with her son’s football or her daughter’s band activities she lent her own special creativity and humor.
Music became her driving force after her children were raised. From singing to decorating the Christmas trees at the church, she loved every minute. She spent several years traveling with the Glory choir of First Baptist Church, traveling from one side of the country to the other. She had signed on as singer, but she also served as the trip organizer, assisting in the planning and scheduling of each trip. She was always ready to go. Patsy and her red suitcase never missed a Glory Choir trip.
Patsy Vinzant enhanced the lives of many, with her quick wit, willingness to serve others and her ability to have never meet a stranger.
Patsy is survived by her three children, Paula Vinzant, Carol Felty and Ed Vinzant, a son-in-law, Robert Felty and a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Vinzant. Five grandchildren: Breanne Smith and her husband Austin, Brian Felty and his wife Wendy, Trey Vinzant and his wife Conor, Preston Vinzant, Dolan Mueller, Kenneth McKinney, Marshall McKinney and seven great grandchildren.
