A private graveside service for family only will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM, Friday, June 29, 2018. Arrangements are under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
Phyllis was born on May 6, 1925 in Joplin, Missouri to Glen and Alice Whitehead Davis. Known for her beauty and elegant style, she was selected to be Little Miss Joplin, Joplin Homecoming Queen, and the Southwestern Missouri Fiesta Queen. She married Dr. D. Neil Darnell on April 26, 1944 in Norman, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 2000. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, where her husband was the minister of music for many years.
She is survived by her daughters: Lynn Rene Hann, Janis Yellott, and Dea Darnell, all of Wichita Falls; grandchildren: John Clinton Hann III and wife Jennifer of Lafayette, Colorado, Hillarie Elizabeth Holtsnider of Louisville, Colorado, and William Alexander Yellott of Wichita Falls; 4 great-grandchildren: Jesse Christian Holtsnider, Harper Marie Hann, Georgia Rosalee Hann, and Kennedy Elizabeth Holtsnider.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association, Wounded Warriors, or the charity of your choice.
