Sharon was born June 28, 1943, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, to the late Lawson Soileau and Marie Nazel Ortego Soileau. Her father was in the military, and they relocated to different parts of the world during her younger years, but always came back to Louisiana when time allowed. She graduated from Incarnate Word High School in San Antonio, Texas and attended the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas for two years. She married Phil King in 1962 and had three sons. They were also a military family and traveled extensively for several years before settling in Wichita Falls, Texas, where she began a banking career at First Wichita National Bank. Her marriage to Phil ended in 1981 and she continued her banking career for many years afterwards.
She met her partner in crime, Ron Chandler, and they were married on May 24, 1991. They began a lifetime partnership that included cooking, dancing, traveling, and lots of love. They created Chandler Mfg., Inc. on September 10, 1999, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Their company specialized in oil, industrial, and manufacturing including highly customized equipment, which Ron engineered himself while Sharon ran the office. This was a labor of love and is still operating today with Ron’s daughter, Reanna Jones, running the company.
Sharon loved to cook Cajun dishes, sing, go camping and fishing with Ron, all things ocean-life, and loved visiting her family in her hometown of Ville Platte, Louisiana. She was a devout Catholic and attended weekly mass and prayed the rosary often. Ron and Sharon were members of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Wichita Falls, Texas and previously were involved with RCIA. She deeply loved her family and often hosted meals for both her and Ron’s kids as well as hosting them in their suite at Texas Rangers Stadium in Arlington, Texas during baseball season. She was a true Cajun who loved entertaining. With her big personality, flare for story telling, and excellent cooking, everyone was guaranteed a memorable time. She also loved her life-long friend, Sherry Jones. Together while at work or play, they built a lifetime of memories and truly enjoyed each other’s company.
Sharon was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2015 and steadily declined over the next several years. Through it all, Ron stayed by her side, loving her and providing caregivers for her at their home until his passing on August 8, 2023. Her son, Chuck King and his wife, Elaine, took over her care until her passing on November 24, 2025.
Survivors include her only sibling, beloved brother Lawson Soileau and wife Terri of Ville Platte, Louisiana, three sons, Chuck King and wife Elaine, of Windthorst, Texas, Jeff King of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Dion King and wife Clair, of Iowa Park, Texas. Stepdaughters include the late Rhonda Clark, of Dallas, Texas, Reanna Jones and her late husband, Ronnie of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Ronna Gaye Evartt and husband Tommy, of Wichita Falls, Texas. Grandchildren include Brianne King, Chandler King, Brooklyn King, Taarna Farley, Heather Aaron, Brittany King, Bailey Zellers, Bradie Martin, Bree Zellers, Kaycie Pressley, Jeremey Allen, Jessica Lewis, and Monica Torres. Two nieces, Dawn Soileau and Tanya Soileau.
