Stephen Lynn Bitz

Stephen Lynn Bitz, a lifelong resident of Wichita Falls, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 28, 2026. He was 77 years old.

A Life of Service and Craft, Stephen was born on September 25, 1948, in Wichita Falls to Ben and Bettye Bitz. A proud patriot, he answered the call to serve his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Stephen returned home and dedicated 34 years of his professional life to Washex Manufacturing, where he worked as a skilled welder.

For 10 years, Stephen served as a Master Gardener. When he wasn’t tending to his plants, he could often be found with a fishing pole in hand or on the golf course.

Stephen’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted member and Deacon of Faith Baptist Church, where he served his congregation with a kind heart. Above all his accomplishments, his greatest joy was his family—especially his role as a grandfather.

Stephen was preceded in death by his beloved 1st wife of 35 years Cherri and second wife June; his mother, Bettye; and his father, Ben.

He is survived by a family who will miss him dearly: His children: Daughter Stephenie Bitz-Martell and husband Steve of Portland, Oregon; and son John Gregory Bitz and wife Shelley of Wichita Falls. His siblings: Brother Kenneth and wife Sherry; and sister Becky and husband Jim. His grandchildren: Matthew, Ashley, and Sage, who were the light of his life.

Visitation will be held at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home, 1917 Archer City Hwy, Wichita Falls, TX 76302, US, on June 5, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm (next day).

A Funeral Service will be held at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home, 1917 Archer City Hwy, Wichita Falls, TX 76302, US, on June 6, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:40 am.

A Committal Service will be held at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home, 1917 Archer City Hwy, Wichita Falls, TX 76302, US, on June 6, 2026, from 11:45 am to 12:15 pm.
