Tim proudly served in the United States Army beginning on April 21, 1969, as a trumpet player with the 1st Armored Division Band in Germany and later with the 6th Army Band at Presidio in San Francisco. In 1972, while serving with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Hurlach, Germany, he met the love of his life, Rhonda. Together they participated in outreach efforts connected to the 1972 Munich Olympics. Their meeting began a beautiful marriage that lasted nearly 52 years. Tim and Rhonda were married on September 21, 1974, and together built a strong, loving family centered on faith and commitment.
Tim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His greatest joy in life was his enduring marriage and raising his four children, in whom he took immense pride. He celebrated each of their accomplishments with gratitude and joy: Heather Calvin served four years on active duty in the United States Air Force, followed by 25 years in the Air Force Reserve, and now serves as an Aviation Safety Inspector for the FAA; Kelly Rasmussen successfully completed nursing school and is a Registered Nurse; Michael Hurley has faithfully served the Wichita Falls community as a firefighter for almost 23 years and is also a licensed home inspector; and Holly Harrison recently fulfilled her calling to become an attorney and serves as an Assistant District Attorney in Johnson County. Perhaps one of Tim’s proudest accomplishments was encouraging his wife to retire after 41 years of dedicated service to Wal-Mart and continuing to work himself so he could support and care for her during their retirement years.
Tim especially cherished watching his children marry and build families of their own. He loved family gatherings, time spent together, and creating memories across generations.
A lifelong servant of God, Tim ministered for many years at the Wichita Falls Faith Mission, preaching and teaching the Word of God. He was deeply gifted in music ministry, playing both the trumpet and piano, composing numerous musical works, and writing several plays. In 2013, he fulfilled another dream by becoming a published author with his book, The Story of Keeper: The Man in the Forest.
Those who knew Tim will perhaps remember him most for his remarkable prayer life and steadfast faith. He spent countless hours in prayer for his family and was a devoted student of Scripture, reading the Bible cover to cover multiple times and studying the New Testament repeatedly throughout his life. His quiet faithfulness, wisdom, and love for God left a lasting legacy that will continue through the generations of his family.
Tim is survived by his beloved wife, Rhonda Hurley; his children, Heather Calvin and husband TC, Kelly Rasmussen and husband Adam, Michael Hurley and wife Stephanie, and Holly Harrison and husband Oliver; his grandchildren, Morgan, Caitlin, and Nathaniel; Adrian, Abigail, Ava, and Trestin; Haven and Scarlett; and Lillian and Lilah; his great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Graham; his sisters, Teri Russell and Geri Harris; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hurley; his mother, Roma Anderson; and his stepfather, Ron Anderson.
A celebration of Tim’s life will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 3:30 PM at City Hope Church in Wichita Falls.
His family rejoices in the assurance that he is now in the presence of the Lord he faithfully served throughout his life.
