

Lemcke, Albert C. “Al”, 93, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Sat. Oct. 15, 2016 in Wichita. Al was born the son of Harry and Vera Lemcke on May 10, 1923 at home in Wichita. Al served in the United States Army second Infantry division during WWII for four years. This dedicated soldier was the recipient of two awards, the Purple Heart and the Oak Leaf Cluster. Al also received the Combat Infantry Badge and reached the rank of staff sergeant during the five major battles in which he took part. Al was a lifetime member of the Second (Indianhead) Division Association and the VFW #112 in Wichita. He was a Mason with the Bester G. Brown Lodge #433 in Wichita and also served as a Shriner. Al was an avid sportsman, loved to fish, hunt. He played baseball at North High School in Wichita. Al was one that never knew a stranger and would always help those in need. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Ada Lemcke, second wife, Margaret (Peggy) Lemcke, daughter, Rebecca Gile, sister, Rosemary Lusk. Survivors include his loving children, David Lemcke of Wichita, Jackie Newcomer of Park City, KS, Tracy (Kevin) Newell of Belle Plaine, KS, sister, Marceil Harper of Owasso, OK, grandchildren, Shawn Wilcoxen of London, England, Krystal (Kelly) Whiteside of Wichita, Brian Ray of Azle, TX, Julie Lockmiller, Aledo, IL, Tonya Lopp of Prescott, KS, Jamie Parrott of Lawrence, KS, 2 great-grandchildren, nieces, Barbara (Blair) Fennell of Bixby, OK, Janet (Steve) Hop of Owasso, OK, Mikki (Greg) Curtis of Stonewall, OK, nephews, Mike (Lorri) Harper of Claremore, OK and Richard “Dick” (Inger) of Stockholm, Sweden and numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. Memorial graveside services will be 10am on Sat. Oct. 22, 2016 at Lakeview Cemetery, Wichita. Memorials can be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars “Over There” Post 112, 1560 S. Topeka St., Wichita, Kansas.
