

Burton, Alvin “Al” C., 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 18, 2016. He is preceded in death by his siblings John, Seaf “Bud”, Robert, Dorothy, Mildred, Wilma and wife of 47 years, Verna. Survived by wife Virginia, sons Daniel (Terri), David (Cathy), Phillip (Linda) Burton, grandchildren Carrie (Ryan) Vawter, Julie (Carl) Merisko, Douglas, Christopher, Jessica, John, Joseph Burton, 4 step-sons, 5 step-grandchildren, 1 step-great-grandchild, brother Oliver (Ruth Ann) Burton, sister Wanda Mosier, and numerous nieces and nephews. Al was raised in Cottonwood Falls, KS, he served his country during World War II as a Corporal in the Marine Corp, and graduated from Emporia State College after the war. His career started at Boeing Aircraft transitioning to aviation insurance at Don Flowers Associates, of which he was CEO. Piloting a plane was his first love, and he enjoyed a good game of golf and racquetball. He was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Lutheran Braille Workers Work Center #71 or Holy Cross Lutheran Church. A memorial service for Al will be held on Friday, April 1, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church at 2p.m.
