Today is my birthday and I have wondered for months how and why I lost contact with Andy, a dear personal friend of mine for years. I presumed he was busy with his job and his new family. Today being my birthday I decided to do an internet search for him as I was concerned he hadn't contacted me for so long. I was shocked beyond words to learn of his passing.  If anyone can please share more details who might remember me I would be forever grateful. Andy was a very close friend for many years and I had no idea of this devastating news that I  just discovered researching the internet.

I write this with so much regret in my heart. Andy Hurt was a good friend, a good person and will be missed by so many. He was the soulmate of my soulmate David Hamdan. My regret comes from my not getting to know him better and not letting him know how much his presence and influence impacted those around him.  Andy Hurt had such a good heart and helped so many. All of his help and good deeds and impact will follow him for years to come.  Please remember to get to know those around you and appreciate all the good that they do and tell them that you appreciate them before it’s too late. 

This is sad news to me.  Andy was a cool dude.  He could write great stories.  He was a great editor.  He came out from Kansas to visit me here in California for a few days around 2002-3.   He enjoyed sushi buffet with me.  We had a great time together.  Won't forget him.  We tried to keep in touch over the years.   My condolences to his family and friends locally there in Kansas.  

Andrew Hurt, who went by the name Andy, was my closest and dearest friend, roommate, and classmate at Wichita State University. I have often told Andy I felt he was my soulmate with integrity, intelligence and honor. 
I met Andy at the students orientation in the summer of 1999.  I had recently moved from Germany and Andy noticed my accent and was incredibly kind and supportive. He knew I had no family or friends in Wichita, as I had arrived in Wichita in June of 1999, and made sure I didn’t go back to the dining hall to have lunch alone. He joined me after the orientation and we had a very engaging conversation and a great time, which warmed my heart and allowed me to see him as my family in Wichita, Kansas. 
Andy and I shared interests in music, philosophy, Japanese cuisine and culture and we have kept in touch more than a decade after I had moved to Belgium and then Dallas. 
I will never forget the devastating moment I learned of his passing away. 
I send my condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. I miss you Andy and hope there is an afterlife in which I meet you again. You are a life enlarging, generous and warm soul Andy and I am sure you have positively influenced everyone who has had the pleasure of knowing you.
