We enjoyed getting to know Bruce & his family through the years beginning with little league baseball, soccer, etc.
Bruce was always the constant coach & mentor for the boys, including Joe as family.
Encounters with Bruce in later years as he drove his company truck thro the neighborhoods were always warm, full of family discussions, & a laugh or two as a remembrance of the teams, the games, or the boys & their mischief would be told!
We will miss your warm, welcoming smile & your endless energy for life, dear friend!

Our daughter, Audrey, met Bruce's son Matthew, shortly before they both went off to K-State for college in 2004. During the time they courted until their wedding in Sept. '14, she always talked about how nice Matt's Dad was to her, and that he was so funny! I asked if he was a Chief's fan, and she gasped, "Oh! No! Dad! He is a die-hard Steelers fan!!" I told her that I'd try not to hold that against him! The type of man Bruce was showed at their wedding when he paid me the best compliment any Dad wants to hear! "ED, I finally get the chance to shake the hand of the man who raised a daughter worthy and capable of stealing my son's heart!! Well done!! It is my honor to meet you and welcome you and your wife, Arlene, into our family!" Bruce, The Lord has received you in the company of his angels in heaven!!

I met Bruce while I worked at the KGS Library. Always so kind, funny, always asked about my life, & we engaged in many chats. Just a joy to be around. I always looked forward to him coming in. Prayers for his family in this tough time. 

Bruce was a dear friend.  Met him while I was still in college. He always  had a smile on his face and a kind word.  He will be truly missed.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family.  Sincerest wishes.

That was how Bruce addressed me when we spoke...with bubbly enthusiasm, a big smile and the warmth of a friendship spanning 50+ years.

We were Boy Scouts together, Troop 517 - Redeemer Lutheran, and shared that experience over the course of several years, including memorable Philmont expeditions. I'll never forget a candy run Bruce and I made after a long day on the trail. We collected money from our crew and made a 10-mile side hike to an outpost for the coveted sweets.

Bruce taught me about oil production, paraffin formation and microbial mitigation. We met several times recently to discuss marketing a treatment formulation. We'd spend 30 minutes or so talking business and over an hour just shootin' the breeze.

I loved Bruce and thought of him as a brother. His engaging personality and warmth are indelibly etched in my heart.

Everyone should have a Bruce in their life. He was a wonderful friend to me and Josh and we loved him so much. Hard to believe he is gone. To his family he loved you all so much and never missed a chance to show pictures and tell about your lives. We will miss you Dilly Dilly.

I met Bruce Reed in 1996 when I sent in a letter inquiring on jobs with his environmental firm.  I was thinking of moving to Colorado and changing my entire career to Microbiology.  The day before I was to head to Colorado to go to CSU to apply, he called and invited me in for an interview.  We spent the day together, me, him and Rick Stone who worked with Bruce.  We went to a job site in Halstead, Kansas and Bruce explained that my job would be to take notes of everything they were going to do on this project.  I left for Colorado the next day and determined that Geology was my path and Bruce was sent to me by God to get me lined up on that path.  I returned to Wichita, accepted the position and enrolled at Wichita State to complete my BS in Geology.  Bruce took a chance on a college kid and the things I learned from Bruce and Rick were more than money could buy.  Because of that opportunity, I excelled in the environmental field and today, I am now the Groundwater Section Manager of the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality.  And I owe it all to Bruce.  I miss working with him where we would start our day at Quick Trip for his morning coffee and his Black and Mild Cigars (I believe those were them).  We would eat at the buffett in Halstead and be completely worthless after lunch.  He called me Lilith or Slash after his favorite player on the Steelers.  He took me to a few Top Fuel eliminator drag races.   I left Wichita in 1998 after graduating.  I kept in touch with Bruce over the years and got to talk to him about two years ago while he was out on a drill rig in Kansas.  He was my boss, my mentor, my friend.  My memories of him will be cherished.

Bruce was a kind man as stated from anyone who met him. He also was a character with the biggest smile. My fondest memory of him was when I purchased a Dodge Ram 7 years ago and the first thing Bruce stated, was "you wanna race"?. We never did though I believe he would have given me a head start just to show his True Spirit.  My family will have Maggie and the Reed Family in our daily thoughts and prayers.
