

Carl R. Swisher, 82, retired electrical engineer, passed away from complications of kidney cancer on Monday, March 03, 2014. Carl was born in Wichita on July 2, 1931 to Louis F and Edna I (Arbuckle). He attended Lincoln, Hamilton, East High class of 49, Wichita State University and graduated from Kansas State University as BSEE in Jan. of 1958. He served in as S/Sgt in the United States Marine Corp from 1949 to1952. He retired from Lockheed after 12 years on the Shuttle Program at Kennedy Space Center. Carl lived in Florida for over 40 years and traveled extensively in SE Asia, Europe and the USA on business where he developed a passion and an excellence for cooking. From 1975 to 1978 he and his then girlfriend Karen owned and operated a retail and wholesale Seafood Business, Lighthouse Cove, on the Eau Gallie Causeway in Melbourne, Fl.
Preceded in death by parents, Louis F. and Edna I (Arbuckle) Swisher and sister Lois.
Survived by his loving wife Karen and two children by a prior marriage with former wife Nonie, Sheryl Sterrett and Charlene (Mike) Malavolta, Palm Bay, FL and granddaughter Angela (Scott) Rates, Oakland, CA, one niece, one nephew, one great nephew, one great niece and many cousins and friends. No religious services are planned. A Bon Voyage party will be held for relatives and friends. Anyone wishing to attend can contact [email protected] for time, place and date of gathering.
