Carol passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at her home in Goddard, Kansas at the age of 92. She was born to Lyle and Reba (Dunlap) Stanley on October 12, 1933, in Lenora, Kansas.
Carol graduated from East High School and Wichita State University. She married Robert James Harrison in 1954 and was with him until 1976. Two children were born of this marriage, Stanley Dale Harrison and Connie Lynn (Harrison) Schartz. She later married Herbert Parker in 1991 and stayed with him until 1999.
Carol was a very nurturing and amazing teacher for over 30 years, and the last 20 of those years, she worked for the Goddard School District. She was a Sedgwick County Master Gardener for the adult and youth programs after her retirement. Carol cooked, baked, and helped with the delivery of Thanksgiving meals to Wichita homebound people over the last 30+ years in what she called the Annual Harrison Thanksgiving Day Meals. She enjoyed nature, feeding all of the neighborhood birds and begrudgingly fattening up the neighborhood squirrels. She enjoyed gardening and container gardening, landscaping (especially native plants), bird identifying, painting, arts and crafts, knitting and sewing.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Reba Stanley; sister, Charlene (Jim) Parks and stillborn granddaughter. She is survived by her children, Stan Harrison of Goddard, Connie Schartz of Pratt; stepdaughter, Robin Parker; grandchildren, Chad Patrick Schartz, Manhattan, Jamie Lee (Chris) Froetschner, Larned, Lane William Schartz, Kansas City; great granddaughters, Finley, Royce, Sawyer and Lennon Froetschner and nieces, nephews and cousins and her beloved dog, Melza.
A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 W Hwy 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209. Memorial contributions can be made in Carol’s name and loving memory with Wichita Meals on Wheels and the Master Gardener Youth Program.
