

Carolyn Elizabeth Roby passed away on April 30, 2026. She was born to Chris D. Voran and Hilda C. (van der Smissen) Voran in Newton, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Roby; her daughter, Carol A. Roby; her parents; brother, James E. Voran; and son-in-law, Greg Haflich.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Mark Roby; daughters, Joan Haflich (Greg) and Katherine Roby (Jeff Sikes); grandchildren, Clarie Haflich-Hazel (Nick Hazel), Carolyn Haflich, Emma Sikes; and great-grandchildren, Margot Hazel and Benjamin Hazel.
Carolyn was a graduate of Augusta High School and a proud alumnus of Kansas State University where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics. Carolyn continued her support of both schools throughout her lifetime. Carolyn maintained friendships with her Augusta High School classmates and helped to organize school reunions. Her support of Kansas State University was legendary, and she received recognition for her distinguished service to the College of Home Economics.
Carolyn spent her life as a homemaker, managing the household, wrangling four children, providing delicious family meals, making many of her children’s clothes and serving as a scout leader.
Carolyn, along with her husband Richard, traveled extensively throughout the world with Carolyn documenting the history and culture of the places visited through the creation of travel scrapbooks.
Carolyn loved the Kansas State Wildcats, particularly the Football team. Carolyn and Richard held season tickets for many decades. Carolyn continued the tradition with her daughter Carol after Richard’s passing.
Carolyn was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church throughout her life, participating in the Cruiser Sunday School Class. Carolyn also enjoyed volunteering at the Presbyterian Church’s Economy Corner, treasuring the friendships she made there.
Carolyn enjoyed classical music and was an avid reader, continuing to read until her final days. Carolyn was also a member of the Association of Petroleum Women.

A Celebration of Life Service for Carolyn will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, May 8th, 2026, at Grace Presbyterian Church, 5002 E. Douglas Avenue, Wichita, Kansas 67208.
