IN THE CARE OF

DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary

We are sad to announce the passing of Carolyn Jean Jackson Steele, “Peach,” 80, of Wichita, Kansas, on January 13, 2022. Carolyn was surrounded by her loving sons and husband one last time and passed away peacefully.

Carolyn Jean Jackson was born on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1941, to Keithel and Frances Jackson of Wichita. The oldest of five siblings, “Peach” was known as a child for her flaming red hair and vivid imagination. After graduating from Mount Carmel Academy, Carolyn dedicated her life to her family and her three sons: Todd, Terry, and Chris Whitchurch. In 1973 she met Kenneth Braden Steele. They wed in 1978 and raised her sons together as a family.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother and wife, Carolyn worked at Union National Bank and was a passionate country music fan. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. We will miss her greatly.

Carolyn joins her parents, Keithel Stanley Jackson and Frances Catherine Jackson, in Heaven. She is survived by her beloved husband Kenneth; her sisters, Mary Jo (Eldon) Schumacher and Susan (Herschel) Hall; her brothers Danny Jackson and Richard (Cynthia) Jackson; her sons Todd (Sally) Whitchurch, Terry (DeAwn) Whitchurch, and Chris (Lynn) Whitchurch; her grandchildren Tyler, Haley, Brayden, Bryce, Logan, Katie, and Chris (Jessica); and her great-grandaughter Addison.
