January 28, 1948 - March 9, 2021
Morristown, Arizona — David Albert Switzer, 73, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. David was born to Roscoe Dwight and Emma "Grace" Ritchey Switzer on January 28, 1948 in Wichita, Kansas. David had four siblings, Bob Switzer (Denise), Lynda French, Sharon Stevens (Jim), and Deb Hottle (Bryan).
David joined Brethren Volunteer service and taught craft classes to inner-city children in Harrisburg, PA. He was also a "guinea pig" at NIH for research on a total rice diet. He studied art in four different colleges, the last being in Vienna, Austria where he studied the art techniques of the masters. At the time, he was a true "starving" artist making money doing chalk art and creating unique candles.
David was blessed with two wonderful children, Jonathan Switzer (Crista) and Jennifer Addler (Garett) and three grandchildren, Asher Switzer and William and Shane Addler. When his children were young, they relocated from Maryland to Wichita, KS. David made his living leather crafting for over fifty years, traveling the country doing art shows. During one of the shows, he met the love of his life, Lorna, and shared an additional five children, twelve grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. David and Lorna recently moved from Augusta, Kansas to Morristown, Arizona to continue his business. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and the art world. Well done, good and faithful servant.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm. on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at White Chapel Cemetery in Wichita, KS.
