Donald Ray Buchanan died Thursday, February 15th, from complications following surgery. Donald recently moved from Dallas, TX to Wichita, KS, his home town from birth. Donald graduated in 1973 from Raymore Peculiar High School in Missouri. He served his country in the Army, and later in the Navy. While serving in the Navy he trained to become a medical laboratory specialist. Donald had a love for sports of all kinds and became an avid player of golf while in California after he was discharged from the Navy. His favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys and he acquired many items and paraphernalia with the Cowboys logo. Donald was an easy going, loveable man who made friends wherever he was. He will be missed by many family, friends and neighbors. He is survived by his only son, Bradley Buchanan, of Wichita; his granddaughters, Aubrey, Norah and Elise, of Wichita; Sisters Barbara Birdsong, Wylie, TX; Faye Wagner (Wayne), Topeka, KS; Wanda Buchanan, Dallas, TX; and Tina Buchanan; Park City, KS.; and many nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ruby Buchanan; Joyce Buchanan; Roy Buchanan; Stella Brannon; and Maggie Brown. Services for Donald will be Monday, February 19th, 10:00 a.m. at the DeVorss, Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary, 201 S. Hydraulic.
