

Dorothy Jane Schadegg, 82, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 10, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to Anthony and Clementine Unrien.
She spent many years employed in manufacturing, working at Safelite Auto Glass, Beech Aircraft, and later Evcon, where she helped build air‑conditioning units. She was known for her strong work ethic, her reliability, and the homemade desserts she often brought to share with coworkers.
Dorothy was a woman of deep Catholic faith. She prayed the rosary daily, attended Mass faithfully for as long as her health allowed, and lived her beliefs quietly through acts of kindness.
She married the love of her life, Don Schadegg, and together they built a home filled with laughter, family, and simple joys. They enjoyed fishing behind their house on the Arkansas River, taking cruises, and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
In her later years, Dorothy faced significant health challenges, including Ménière’s disease and Alzheimer’s. Through every stage, she was cared for with extraordinary devotion by her family. The last 10 years of her life, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Jim.
Dorothy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her humor, her resilience, and the deep affection she held for her family. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great‑grandchildren, and extended family who loved her dearly.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Donald Schadegg; her daughter, Suzanne Soileau; her parents, Anthony and Clementine Unrien; brothers, Dennis Unrien, Leroy Unrien, Benny Unrien Willard Unrien; and sisters, Shirley Clark, Judy Stuart and Darlene Patrick.
She is survived by daughter, Tina Porter and son-in-law Jim Porter; son-in-law, John Soileau; grandchildren, Matt Porter and wife Ami, Brad Porter, Jeremy Soileau and wife Jennifer, Jeff Soileau; and 9 great grandkids.
Dorothy’s family extends heartfelt thanks to all who supported her with visits, calls, prayers, and kindness throughout her illness.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209, US, on March 24, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Resthaven Mortuary, followed by a committal service.
