

Ware, Elma A. (DeMaree), age 102, died May 12, 2015, having lived her life loving and being loved by many. She charmed the world. Her infectious giggle will be so missed. Elma was born in Des Lacs, North Dakota, and at six months, her parents, Alva D. and Pearl J. (Bennett) DeMaree and one and a half year-old brother, travelled from North Dakota to St. Joseph, Missouri in a covered wagon. The growing family moved to Kansas when Elma was 16 years old. She graduated from Wichita East High and then Wichita Business College. During the Depression, her father was a truck farmer, and sold the meat and fruit pies that Elma and her mother baked. Through WWII Elma was ‘Rosie-the-Riveter’ at Boeing. In 1947, Elma met Ed Ware of Eureka, Kansas. They were married four years later. The family grew from Ed’s 3 sons, Ray, Bob, and David, with the birth of Mary, John, and Kathryn. Elma was preceded in death by her husband, Edward E. Ware; and sons, David L. and Robert E. Ware. Survived by sons, Raymond W. and John D. (Carmen) Ware; daughters, Mary A. (Tom James) and Kathryn A. (Alan Attkisson) Ware; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and her last surviving sister, Dorothea Lipp. Memories at Facebook.com/elma.ware. In lieu of flowers, there is a memorial in her name at Faith Christian Church, where she is a charter-member. Viewing and family visitation, Friday, May 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Home, 935 North Hillside, Wichita. Elma’s funeral will be on Saturday, May 16, at 11 a.m., at Faith Christian Church, at 2110 W. 45th Street South, Wichita, (316) 529-1611. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Ed, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Wichita.
