

Helen A. Orth, 81, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a brave, short battle with cancer on November 23, 2025. She was born on August 20, 1944, in Colwich, Kansas, to Alphons M. and Cecilia M. (Spexarth) Eck.
On October 12, 1963, Helen married Robert H. Orth at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in St. Marks, KS. Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and community. Their union was blessed with five children.
Helen was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished her 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, always finding joy in their milestones and accomplishments. Her family was her greatest pride, and she made each member feel deeply loved.
Helen lived her Catholic faith through active involvement at Christ the King Church in Wichita, KS. In her 63 years of dedicated parish life, she gave generously of her time volunteering in numerous ministries. She served as president of the Altar Society, an extraordinary eucharistic minister, and an OCIA sponsor. She was on the Quilt Bingo Committee, Fun Night Committee, Christ the King Cares, Funeral Dinners, and many others. Her dedication to parish life and sacraments reflected her deep commitment to service and community.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alphons and Cecilia Eck; her grandson, Brent Orth; her sister, Lou Ann Bergkamp; and her brother, Francis Eck.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Orth; her five children: Duane (Marla) Orth of Leawood, KS; Dale (Jen) Orth of Arlington, VA; Deanna (Steve) Cox of Wichita, KS; Danelle (Shawn) Urban of Wichita, KS; and Darla (Paul) Reinisch of Eureka, MO; and her siblings: Mary Kay (Frank) Mohrfeld of St. Paul, IA; Carol (Pat) Dugan of Wichita, KS; Ivan (Susan) Eck of Carl Junction, MO; Celi (Doug) Goff of Wichita, KS; and Nancy (Steve) Denton of Oswego, KS.
Helen’s legacy is one of love, faith, and devotion. She will be remembered for her warmth, her strength, and her devotion to the sacraments. Her cookies and cinnamon rolls sweetened not only family gatherings but also hearts.
The rosary will be prayed on Friday, November 28, at 7:00 p.m., and the family will receive friends immediately following. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 29, at 10:30 a.m. Both are at Christ the King Catholic Church, Wichita, KS. Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 1, at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Cemetery.
