91, heaven received a guardian on May 1, 2016. Jim was known as reserved and quiet, but when he spoke he made an impact. His passion for serving the public lead to a career as a security officer for the City of Wichita prison, Wichita State University and St. Joseph Hospital. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Church of Christ. During his free time, he enjoyed the outdoors with his family, camping in the 5th wheel, fishing, boating, skiing and vegetable gardening. He was preceded by parents, Hobart and Flora Davis; daughter, Bette Mercer. He is survived by wife of 73-1/2 years, Ovalene Davis; sons, Jerald (Sharon) Davis and Terry Davis; brother, Wayne (Sue) Davis; sisters, Ruby Hutcherson and Viola George; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Resthaven Mortuary.
