James Shih

James Shih, 82, passed away on, August 2, 2022 in Wichita, Kansas with his family by his side. James was born in Shanghai, China to Shih Yu Cun and Shih Chen Yue Zhen on May 15, 1940. He grew up in Shanghai and graduated from Shanghai Second Medical University with a bachelor’s degree in physics. He worked as a high school physics teacher in Shanghai. He married Sandra Shih in 1968 and had one child, Nancy. Together they celebrated 54 years of marriage before his passing. In 1979, James and his family immigrated to Hong Kong. In 1983, he and his family immigrated to the United States where they resided in New Jersey. After he retired, James and his wife Sandra relocated to Wichita to be close to his daughter Nancy and her family. James is Christian. He enjoyed watching movies, watching horse races, and playing cards and Mahjong. He is an excellent home cook with a specialty dish of Hong Shao Kao Fu.

He is survived by his wife Sandra, daughter Nancy and her husband Alex, and grandson Ryan.

A celebration of life for James will be held Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Lakeview Cemetery in Wichita, Kansas.
