Jimmie Mack Chessher, age 78, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. Jim Mack Chessher, real first name was Jimmie, but no one was crazy enough to call him that was born on Saturday, January 20th 1945 in Colbert, OK. He was the son of Johnnie Thomas Chessher and Juanita Charlsie (Sanders) Chessher.
He lived his life the way he wanted to and no one could tell him different. He spent his working career in the aircraft industry working in Vietnam, the Philippines, Mexico, Germany and ending with many years in Wichita, KS. He did enjoy hosting family gatherings at his home which he designed and built in Wichita. He was a master of making ham and beans, and competed with his sister Ruby on who could make the best deviled eggs. He loved his sons James and Brad but they took a back seat when his grandsons Andrew, Justin and Jordan came along.
In his later years he valued his privacy more and more avoiding groups whenever possible. He collected just about anything and it is rumored he could smell a garage or estate sale from 3 miles away.
During his last year, his health began to fade, and he passed from this life at his grandsons Justin Chessher’s home and without the support and care provided by Justin’s wife Emily, Jim would have been in a full care Nursing facility which would have been his worst nightmare. Up until the end he hoped to be going back home just down the street, but another route was before him returning home for Eternity. Jim passed in his sleep peacefully surrounded by his family.
He is preceded in death by his brothers: Johnnie Edward Chessher, Howard Duane Baldridge, Harold Lee Baldridge, Sisters: Ruby Marie (Chessher) Bergman, Juanita Lorraine Bergman, Beverly Beavers, and Mary Lou Chessher. His sons: Justin Bryan Chessher and Bradley Paul Chessher.
He is survived by his brothers, Charlie Chessher of Meriden, KS and Orvel Baldridge of Tahlequah, OK. Also survived by son, Bradley Paul Chessher, Grandson Justin Chessher and wife Emily. Great Grandchildren, Anna, Loren, Abby, and Kevin.
