Judy moved to Wichita with her family at the age of three and attended Seltzer Elementary and Southeast High School. She pursued her nursing education at St. Mary of the Plains in Dodge City and St. Joseph School of Nursing, where she earned her nursing degree. Judy began her career in the ER Department at St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita, where she met her future husband, Ross Spencer, who worked as an ambulance driver. They were married in 1966 and welcomed their son, Wesley, in 1983. Judy and Ross cherished their family time, frequently taking trips to the lake and enjoying boating with friends and family.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Eldora Hazen and her husband, Cecil “Ross” Spencer.
She is survived by her son, Wesley (Kourtney) Spencer; grandchildren, Parker and Anistyn Engels; siblings, Randy (Ginger) Hazen and Deborah Lambert; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A come-and-go visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Lakeview Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Lakeview Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Lakeview Cemetery in the Veterans Garden, 12100 East 13th Street North, Wichita, Kansas 67206.
