

June B. (Swindell), 95, was born June 22, 1919 in Mascot Nebraska and passed away on Friday, March 16, 2015. She served as a Yeoman in the U.S. Navy WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) during World War II and was stationed in Alexandria Virginia. She married the love of her life Wallace L. Webb in Topeka on November 25, 1945 after his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, having served as a Master Sergeant in the 137th Infantry in the invasion of Europe. June was a devoted wife and mother, serving as Cub Scout Den Mother at Riverside Christian Church, PTA President at Woodland Elementary School in Wichita, and Sunday School teacher at Plymouth Congregational Church. She also volunteered at First Presbyterian Church’s Economy Corner thrift store and The Arc of Sedgwick County.
She is survived by her sons Alan and Michael Webb; daughter-in-law Kathleen Webb; grandchildren Matthew Johnson, Anne Johnson, and Amber Beck; and great grandsons Cody Beck, Daniel Beck, and Luke Beck all of Wichita; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service 10am, Friday, March 20, 2015 at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Chapel with a graveside service to follow at 2pm at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th Street in Topeka, KS.
Memorials have been established with First Presbyterian Church Parish Nurse Program, Plymouth Congregational Church Parish Nurse Program, The Arc of Sedgwick County Legacy of Hope Endowment, c/o Wichita Community Foundation, and The Alan Webb Gift Ministry Fund, c/o Kansas Area United Methodist Foundation.
