From a war torn country of Germany, out of a concentration camp, she met her true love and crossed the oceans to a new life in America, land of the free. She lived a life of miracles, perseverance, love, faith and trust. She lived her entire life displaying and teaching by example her convictions. Love of family, belief in miracles, accepting and giving forgiveness, and demanding respect from all she met.
She was told her body could only bear one child but that was unacceptable to her so she trusted God and accepted his gift of seven and devoted her life to her beloved husband and children. She lived a life of service and visualized where she could be used and acted upon it. Together with her husband they accepted many foster children into their home when their own families were unable to care for them. Unwed mothers whom had no where else to go and the elderly who were forgotten found a home with Katie and Melvin. Through the use of her hands, she created many beautiful handicrafts and gave them all away, finding true joy in giving.
The fruits of her labor bore seven children, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, all of whom gathered around her during her time of need and gave back selflessly to her.
Katie was a survivor of war, death of three children, attacks of sickness, cancer, epilepsy and depression. Miraculously healed of symptoms of epilepsy for 20 plus years, it returned to her in later years. She accepted the healing through her faith and good medicine.
As her body grew weak from age and dementia, she bore it with dignity, strength and acceptance. Ending with nothing less than smiles and thank yous.
God gave her a peaceful death and we believe he held her hand and they walked into heaven.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald P. Viktora; daughters Dores P. Chaput and Susan P. Viktora.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Viktora; son, Mike (Monica) Viktora; daughters, Lorraine P. (Jay) Norris, Diane P. (Robert) Williams, Martha P. (Gerald) Houser; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
