Kayla Audrey May Gasaway

Born on August 25, 2000, Kayla brought light and warmth into the lives of those who knew her. She is remembered as a kind and loving soul who faced many challenges in her short life. She was loved deeply by her close family and friends, and her life was filled with moments of connection, courage, and hope.

Kayla was the mother of two young children, her daughter Adalie Gasaway (7) and her son Bentley Gasaway (5), who she loved dearly and who remain her greatest legacy. She is survived by her children and their father Damian Gasaway, her mother Dawnita Shank, her two brothers Skyler Srader and Rodney Shank and her boyfriend Tristan Keilholtz, who shared a deep bond with her and held a special place in her heart and life.

She was preceded in death by her father, Timothy Shank (August 13, 2017), her grandfather Jack Ray Shank (March 20, 2025), and her grandmother Audrey Anna Shank (November 6, 2018).

Kayla’s life was marked by both beauty and hardship. She will be remembered not only for the battles she faced, but for her tenderness, her bright smile, and the love she had for her family and friends, especially her children. Her story is one of complexity, resilience, and a spirit that will not be forgotten.

A service to celebrate Kayla’s life will be held at Westview Baptist Church, 1325 S Meridian Ave, Wichita, Kansas 67213 on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM. All are welcome to attend and remember her life with love and grace.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kayla’s memory can be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses, and may be left in care of the mortuary.

Kayla will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. May she now find the peace that eluded her in life.
