Larry Glenn Barrett

Larry Glenn Barrett was born December 6, 1937, died February 25, 2025 at the age of 87. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Audrey (Fraizer) Barrett; his biological mother, Geraldine Moore and his siblings, Thayne and Sandra.

Survived by his son, Lance Barrett (Summer); daughter, Leigh Casimir (Wayne); sister, Phyllis Thomas (Brent); brother, Gary Gordon (Elaine); sisters: Nina Walsh, Ann Brewer and Jenny Nitle; grandchildren: Jeremy, Candice, Logan, Kirstin (Kyle), Gillian, Luke, William and Matt; great-grandchildren: Mya Faye, Dakota and Grace; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and his very good friend Deborah Gentry.

Larry was adopted in December 1939. He graduated from West High School then attended Friends and graduated from Wichita State University with an Accounting Degree.

In high school he played basketball, he was a wrestler and ran track. He loved sports and continued playing basketball and softball in church leagues. He also loved to spend time in Colorado and skiing. But running ultimately became his passion. He ran over 150 marathons. He was in his 70's when he finally retired his running shoes. During his running career he was featured in Runner's World Magazine.

He worked for several different companies including: Mobil Oil, Cessna, Shepler's and the State of Kansas to name a few. He loved his family and was always willing to help a stranger.

A visitation for Larry will be held Friday, March 7, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM inside our chapel.
