

A proud electrician, Larry was a longstanding member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 271 in Wichita. He took great pride in his work and the strong friendships he built throughout his career.
Larry was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Crabtree, her husband Nicholas Crabtree, and their son Wyatt Crabtree, who brought endless joy to his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille E. Gilbert (née Allen) and Ted M. Gilbert, as well as his brother, Richard Gilbert.
A passionate Kansas City Chiefs fan, Larry loved attending games with Beverly and Nick, cheering on his team with unmatched enthusiasm. He had a big heart, a generous spirit, and an incredible knack for making people feel welcome and cared for. Larry’s thoughtfulness, humor, and warmth made a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A memorial service to honor Larry’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 US-54, Wichita, KS 67209.
Following the service, an informal reception will be held at Side Pockets, located at 614 S. Tyler Rd. (Kellogg and Tyler), Wichita, KS 67209. We’ll raise a glass, share some snacks and laughs, and shoot a little pool in his memory—just the way he would’ve liked it.
