Born in Hilltop, Kansas, Larry was the son of Edward H. Sauder and Una Rose Sauder (née Aeschiliman). He proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Panama during World War II.
In 1952, Larry married the love of his life, Mary Louise Timbrook, in Kansas City. Their marriage, rooted in love and partnership, spanned 57 years until Mary’s passing. Together, they raised two daughters, Debra and Tama, and built a life rich in family, adventure, and shared dreams.
A true jack of all trades, Larry worked as a farmer, cattle truck driver, and later became a part-owner of the Sauder Service Center alongside his two older brothers. In retirement, he found joy in woodworking, watching westerns, and enjoying a daily three o’clock scotch.
Larry and Mary shared a deep love of travel, exploring the world together whenever they had the chance. After moving to Wichita in 1969, Larry became a devoted member of Pathway (Westlink) Church.
Larry is survived by his sisters Marilyn Halsey and Anita Owen; his daughters Debra Rinke (Thomas) and Tama Basto (Richard); and his grandchildren Jason Bell (Becky) and Kerstin Graves (Lance).
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Mary, and his siblings Glen Ivan, Norman, and Justine.
Larry will be remembered for his curious spirit, warm sense of humor, and unwavering loyalty to his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the stories shared by those who loved him.
A visitation for Larry will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM with services held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 10:00 AM, both at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Hwy 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
