Bud was born on April 1, 1960, in Ulysses, Kansas, to Billie Wess Keene and Freda Lou (Morgan) Plumb. He grew up in a large family.
On April 10, 1982, Bud married Tammy in Wichita, Kansas. The two began their life together with a honeymoon to Padre Island, marking the start of a marriage filled with love, support, and shared adventures.
Bud proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1980 to 1995, achieving the rank of Technical Sergeant (TSgt). His military career took him to Okinawa, Japan, and Washington State, and he served during Desert Storm. He was respected for his expertise in survival skills.
Beyond his service, Bud lived a lively, full, and joy-filled life. He loved dancing, horseshoes, karaoke, and golfing, annual Christmas Candy making, and he was known for winning the “best uncle award” among family. Bud had a natural gift for bringing people together—he was the life of the party.
Bud is survived by his wife, Tammy Keene; his daughters, Kendra Keene and Lesley Dee Marcum; and his siblings: Debra Luder (Kim), Kathy Russell (Robert), Wesley Keene (Kathy), Norman Keene (Brenda), Bill Keene (Laura), Curtis Keene, and Monte Keene (Lawanda). He also leaves behind his beloved grandson, Landon Neely Keene, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends who adored him.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Billie and Freda; and his son Chad Keene.
Bud will be remembered for his passion for life and his ability to make every room feel lighter. His legacy lives on in the many people who were blessed to know and love him.
