

Myers, Louis Leigh 81, died September 4, in Wichita, Kansas. He was born November 20, 1932 in Kansas City, Kansas. As a boy he spent happy days playing golf, fishing, and swimming at Lake Quivira. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1956. A mechanical engineer at Boeing for 38 years, he was a mentor and trusted colleague to many. He was a founding member of the Wichita Ski Club—he and his family enjoyed many Colorado skiing vacations. Lou was a devoted husband and father. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Evelyn Myers, and a son Lawrence, Thomas (Tom) Myers. He is survived by his wife Nancy; three children, Vickie Hays, Santa Ana, California; Leigh Myers (Elim), Lawrence, Kansas; and Michael Myers (Nancy), Lawrence, Kansas; his sister Judy Bellemere (Fred) of Mission Hills, Kansas, and eight grandchildren—Sean Myers, Jeremy Rezzonico, Alicia Hays, Jennifer Baykin, Daniel Myers, Natalie Myers, Emily Myers, and Chloe Myers. He liked to spoil them with ice cream bars and root beer floats. A prolific cartoonist he enjoyed word games, golfing, playing ball with his dog, making fruit pies and wood carvings, and constructing trash-o-sauruses (an invention of his). He loved watching KU basketball, smoking his pipe, and growing vegetables in his garden. His loving creativity and generous spirit will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held October 12, 2014. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be sent to Good Shepherd Hospice (439 N McLean Blvd., Wichita, KS 67203).
