

Maddox Blake Johnson, age 11, of Wichita, Kansas passed away at home surrounded by family on Thursday, January 08, 2026 after a seven-month long battle with Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (ATRT), a very rare, highly aggressive, malignant brain cancer.
Maddox was born on October 06, 2014 in Wichita, Kansas to David Alan Johnson III and Cortney Faye Michelle Nicholson.
Maddox was the smartest, bravest boy in the world. He had a larger than life, mischievous personality. He made friends so easily that he never met a stranger.
Maddox was famous for his playful pranks and tickle attacks. He had vibrant energy and an endless imagination bringing laughter and joy to everyone he loved.
Maddox loved music and dancing, guns, knives, hunting, fishing, working on the farm in Medicine Lodge, riding his bike, playing with his friends, and spending time with his family.
He touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by everyone.
Maddox is preceded in death by his infant brother Austin David Johnson, Grandfather Jason Nicholson, Great-grandparents Tom & Rosalie Beard, Jana Nicholson, and Darlene Wools, Uncle Charles Inslee and Cousin Ethan Joshua Kimmi.
Those left to honor Maddox’s memory are his father; David Alan Johnson III, his mother; Cortney Faye Michelle Nicholson, stepdad; Travis Covey, second mom; Amber Regier, siblings; Fiona Covey, McKinley Johnson, Noah Regier, Timothy Briscoe, MacKenzie Regier, and Scottie Lee Youngers; grandparents; Kathie and Sam Carter, Kelli Mott and Kevin Stout, Alan Johnson Jr; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and people who love him.
A visitation will be held on January 16, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Central Community Church, located at 6100 W Maple St, Wichita, KS 67209, United States.
The funeral service will follow at the same location, Central Community Church, starting at 11:00 am on January 16, 2026.
