On October 30, 1947, Marilyn Jean Scovel was born to parents, Mary and Orville Scovel. She passed away on April 21, 2026.
Marilyn graduated from North High School and earned an associate’s degree in accounting from Butler County Jr. College.
She worked at Lear Jet in Wichita and later a temp firm that sent her to Denver, Colorado. There she met Mel Alf Eastergard. They married and moved to Fairfield, Connecticut where she worked at Chesebrough-Ponds USA Inc. Returning to Wichita, she pursued a paralegal career working for attorneys Verlin Ingram and Larry Linn.
Marilyn will be remembered for her sense of humor, caring and loving personality, love of road trips. She was an avid reader, keeping up with current issues and politics. She also loved cooking and loved trying and experimenting with new recipes.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Orville Scovel and brother, Tom Scovel. She is survived by sisters, Jonnie Carver, Nancy Peterson; brother, Richard Scovel; niece, Amy Carver; nephews, Jonathan Scovel and Brian Scovel.
The family will have a private gathering at a later date.
