

Quinn, Mildred E., passed away Oct. 8, 2012 at Eureka Nursing Center, Eureka, KS at age 101 following a long illness. Mildred was born in St. Joseph, MO on June 13, 1911 to Charles and Jessie Spooner, the fourth of five children. The family moved to Kansas and she lived in Kansas the rest of her life. Mildred married Ralph York Quinn, Aug. 19, 1929. One daughter, Vianne was born to them Nov. 10, 1933. For 30 years she worked at Postal Employees Credit Union in Wichita later named Government Employees Credit Union, as office manager and loan officer. During their retirement Mildred and York enjoyed traveling, but always glad to return to their home near Derby, KS. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband York and all her siblings. She is survived by her daughter Vianne and her husband Bob, two grandchildren, Susan Kanamoto and husband Yoshio of Nakama, Japan, Jack Wright and wife Alicia of Eureka, KS, four great grandchildren, Bryan (Cindy Lee) Lightner of MD, Jon Patrick Lightner of Madison, WI and their dad Wm. Jon Lightner of Springdale, AR, Matthew Wright and his mom, Stacy Wright of Atlanta, GA and Noriko Kanamoto of Nakama, Japan. Visitation from 6 to 8 pm Thursday, Oct. 11 at Resthaven Mortuary. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery following a graveside service 1:00 pm Friday, Oct. 12. Memorials to St. Jude Childrens’ Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and Kansas Humane Society.
