Pat was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John E. Hunter, son, Bryan F. Hunter, son-in-law, Mick (Mikkel) Haugen, Sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Thurman Wayne Smith, brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Hollie Walker.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Hunter) Haugen, Pam (Bob) Knowles, Erin Kirby, Debra (Mike) Thome, son, Steven (Judy) Hunter, 17 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Yoshi.
Pat graduated from North High School, class of 1952. Later that year, on November 30th, she married the love of her life, John, and together they raised six children.
Pat was involved in her husband’s business, Hunter & Son Construction, taking care of the financials, business calls, and scheduling appointments. A homemaker extraordinaire, Pat had a talent for fashion and was always so well dressed wherever she went.
Pat enjoyed visiting with her friends and family and was actively involved in her church, Covenant Presbyterian.
Pat and John traveled the country, enjoyed dining with family and friends, and both had a special fondness for the many dogs they found or adopted throughout their marriage.
Known for her generosity, humor, kindness, and big heart, Pat had a talent for striking up conversations with strangers and making everyone feel welcome wherever she went.
Pat LOVED her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than life itself.
Viewing and visitation with the family will be Friday, August 19th, 2022, from 5p – 7p at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, KS.
Pat’s funeral service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1750 N. Tyler Road, Wichita, KS, on Saturday, August 20th, 2022 at 10am, with the Reverend Laura Frazey presiding. Burial will be at Resthaven Gardens of Freedom, 11800 W. Highway 54, immediately after the service.
There will be a luncheon at the church after the graveside service beginning at 12:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Pat’s name to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-3678.
