Ralph R. "Bob" Busby, age 89, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021. Ralph was born June 17, 1932 in Alton, Kansas, the son of Ralph and Phoebe Busby. Bob was raised in Alton, until after his father died and the family sold the farm and moved to Haviland, where Bob attended Haviland Friends Academy and graduated in 1950.
In 1952, Bob was drafted into the Korean War on his 19th birthday serving in the U.S. Navy for 4 years.
Upon return from the service, Bob started work in 1957 for the City of Wichita and then received his radio technician certification and started work as a 911 Communication/Radio Shop for both the city and county until his retirement in 2006.
In 1957, Bob married Vonnie Pike. They were blessed with a son, Arden in 1958. Vonnie passed in October of 1958.
In 1961, Bob married Pauline Binford in Haviland.
Bob helped found the Northridge Friends Church. He was on many committees and volunteered his talents for nearly 50 years.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; sisters, Jennie and Thelma Ann.
Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Pauline; son, Arden and wife, Tina Busby, of Andale; grandchildren, Renee and husband, Matthew Pence, of Harper and Shae Busby, of Park City; great grandchildren, Gabe and Eli Pence.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, at Resthaven Mortuary; funeral service 10:00 a.m. Thursday, at Northridge Friends Church, 2655 N. Bullinger, Wichita; graveside service 2:00 p.m. Thursday, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, with U.S. Navy honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Northridge Friends Church or Barclay College.
