Richard "Dick" George Challacombe

73 years of age, Born in Scranton, KS to Sidney and Beryl Challacombe. He was known to everyone as "Dick". He died of heart failure. Dick graduated from East High School in 1962 and attended Business School in Wichita, KS. He worked at Letters Inc. as a printer before becoming self-employed, owning and operating Misc Print, and then later Dicks Place in Wichita. After retiring, he spent time shopping garage sales, auctions and storage units, second hand stores for good deals. He owned an extensive belt buckle collection, was a member of Parents without Partners for over 25 years, and always met friends for a Christmas day Chinese food dinner. Dick was ultimately a father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He loved to joke and spread laughter and Christmas was his favorite time of the year. His corneas have been donated to the Kansas Eye Bank. Preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Beryl (Geiss) Challacombe, two nieces; survived by; two children, Steven (Diane) Challacombe of Manhattan and Lorri (Carey) Jost of Wichita; sister, Sherri (Howard) Whitetree of Wichita; five grandchildren, Brandon Challacombe of Lincoln, NE, Adam and Eric Challacombe of Manhattan, Kayla and Jake Jost of Wichita.
