Ron’s life was marked by deep faith, enduring love, and an unwavering devotion to his family. He attended Open Bible Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he met the love of his life, Mary Whiting. Their romance began with a nudge from Ron's cousin David Boyd— “If you don’t take Mary, I will!”—and blossomed into a lifelong partnership. They were married on February 14, 1960, and together raised three children: Shawna, Kevin, and Scott.
Ron was a proud Korean War veteran and committed salesman for Nabisco, Fullerbrush, and Zep. Outside of work, he found joy in simple, meaningful pleasures—woodworking, camping trips with family, music that stirred the soul, spirited Bible studies, and attending church, which grounded him in purpose and fellowship.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his parents Harold and Merle; sisters Carolyn and Lavena and brother Laverne.
Ron is lovingly remembered by his sister, Marita; daughter, Shawna (Larry) Semsroth; sons, Kevin (Michelle) Hamm and Scott (Michelle) Hamm; grandchildren, Landon, Evan, Eric, Aaron, Lindsey, Brett, Zachary, and Leah; great-grandchildren Lucy and Colton; and many nieces, nephews, and his beloved dogs Bella and Max.
Services to honor Ron’s life will be held at Resthaven Mortuary and Gardens of Memory, 11800 West Hwy 54, Wichita, KS 67209. Visitation will be Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will take place on Friday, July 11 at 10:00 AM, followed by a graveside service in the Rose Garden. Ron’s love, laughter, and gentle wisdom will be profoundly missed but forever remembered by all who had the joy of knowing him.
