

Born in Winfield, Kansas, Ronald was the son of Ernest Roger Stevens and Myrtle Irene Stevens (née Whitson). He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wichita State University with a Bachelor of Arts from the School of Business.
Ronald proudly served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1962, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6). His military service was marked by dedication and discipline, values he carried throughout his life.
In 1960, Ronald married Mildred Lorraine Stevens (née Cullop) on Valentine’s Day in Wichita, Kansas. Their loving marriage spanned 58 years until Mildred’s passing. Together, they raised two children, David and Melissa Ann, and built a life filled with love, faith, and family.
Ronald had a distinguished career at IBM, beginning in 1956 and retiring in 1992. His work spanned the evolution of computing—from punch-card machines to modern laptops and laser printers. He was respected for his intellect, adaptability, and commitment to excellence.
A lifelong learner and enthusiast, Ronald was a Civil War historian, sportsman, and avid follower of professional golf, sports car racing, WSU basketball, and the Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed music, movies, photography, and exploring new technologies. His passion for genealogical research reflected his deep appreciation for family and history.
Ronald was a devoted member of LifeChange Church in Wichita, Kansas, where he found spiritual fulfillment and community. He was also a proud member of the Civil War Preservation Society.
He is survived by his son David Stevens (Karen) of Wichita; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Kay and Shirley Cullop of Wichita.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Mildred, and his daughter Melissa Ann Stevens.
He will be remembered for his intelligence, sincerity, and earnestness. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
