Sister Rose Marie Montpetit

Montpetit, Sister Rose Marie, CSJ, 89, a Sister of St. Joseph for 68 years, entered eternal life September 1, 2017 at Marian Hall West Sister Rose was born in Taycheiah, WI on October 10, 1927, adopted by Celestin J. and Mary Dufresne Montpetit and grew up as their only child. After graduating from Somerset High School in Somerset, WI in 1946 she worked for the St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company. This was not particularly satisfying for her so she entered the Congregation of St. Joseph in Crookston, MN, on September 8, 1949. On March 18, 1950 she received the habit and professed perpetual vows on August 8, 1955. Her education continued at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato, MN where she graduated in 1953 as an LPN. As a certified LPN she worked in Minnesota hospitals in Mankato, Park Rapids, Baudette, Crookston, MN and Houma, LA. In 1986 and until her retirement, her ministry focused mainly on elder care in Nursing Homes and Home Health in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN. She moved to Wichita, KS in October of 2010 where she retired and became a resident of Marian Hall at Mt. St. Mary’s Convent. She was preceded in death by her parents and in addition to members of her religious community she is survived by a number of Dufresene and Montpetit cousins and many friends.

Homecoming will be Tuesday, September 5 at 3:00 p.m., followed by the wake service at 6:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 10:30 .m. all at Mt. St. Mary’s Convent, 3700 E. Lincoln, Wichita, KS 67218. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Dear Neighbor Ministries, Inc. or the Retirement Fund of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 3700 E. Lincoln, Wichita, KS 67218.
