Ross attended Wichita State University, where he earned a degree in accounting, and later the University of Kansas, where he received his law degree. A talented athlete, Ross was Wichita City’s Leading Scorer in basketball for two consecutive years and was named First Team All-State. He went on to play basketball at Wichita State University from 1966–1968.
Ross practiced law for 50 years and was known for his integrity, kindness, and unwavering optimism. He was famous for three things: his ever-present smile despite years of physical challenges, his devotion to family—his greatest joy in life—and the fact that he and his wife, Paige, never had a single argument in their 30 years of marriage. His daily mantra was, “Just try to make every day your masterpiece.”
Ross had a deep passion for politics and American history, with an encyclopedic knowledge of U.S. presidents. His warmth, wisdom, and gentle humor touched everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Paige, and his children: Matt (Sofi) Alexander; Tim (Ashley) Alexander; Chad (Carolina) Freeman; Courtney (John) Martin; and Chelsea (Steven) Cooksley; and by his 11 beloved grandchildren: Owen, Madison, Jamie, Eva, Ellie, Penelope, Emerson, Corbyn, Carleigh, Jack, and Baker.
A Visitation for Ross will be held Friday, November 7, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E 13TH ST N, WICHITA, KS 67206. A Celebration of Life will occur Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Lakeview Funeral Home.
In his memory, the family asks that you honor him by striving, as he did, to live each day with joy, gratitude, and grace. “Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into thy resting place.”
